A Week Closer To Normalcy?

Everyone still hanging in there?  Did you celebrate Mother's Day, and if so how was it? Kyra and Todd surprised me by coming over with flowers, wine, gifts... and having dinner with hubby and I. Oh how good it felt!!! I saw my mother earlier in the week to drop off some gifts and card - from a distance,  as I feel at her age and diminutive size she is more susceptible to becoming ill. We told her that once this is all over we'll have a proper Mother's Day celebration.

Here is the card I made . I typed up a personal sentiment for the inside. Linking to the Simon Says Wednesday Challenge (Use Dies and/or Punches):

Looks like I took a crooked photo cuz the sentiment looks that way ;) Supplies: large white notecard and envie, fabric washi tape (Recollections); Clear stamp- Mega Mixed Messages, Papertrey Ink); Versafine Onyx Black ink; glittery patterned cardstock - DCWV; Stitch Circle Dies (Our Daily Bread Designs); flower- unknown.

For our gathering at T Stands For Tuesday hosted by Bleubeard and Elizabeth of Altered Book Lover I will share these two coffee related projects I made for a Darkroom Door May Color Inspiration Challenge on IG. A prize is offered- and I am still waiting on one I won last month- it comes from Australia, so who knows how long it will take right now...

This is the inspiration board:
.

 first up is a card:

I did some masking on the card and the cup. Small fern stencil was used to make the pattern on the plain cup, background and envie.

And this is a mixed media postcard I made for the challenge too:

I was quite happy with the way this turned out! Products:  CoffeeTime stamp set and small ferns stencil (Dark Room Door); Distress Oxides- Cracked Pistachio, Broken China; Distress inks- Tea Dye, Shaded Lilac; Archival Black ink; white Posca pen; small script clear stamp (Papertrey Ink); heavy black cotton thread; black handmade paper scrap; purple button (Jesse James).

This journal page is meant for Art Journal Journey hosted this month by Mia with the theme of Flowers:

This page was done on the kraft paper in my Dina Wakley Media Journal. I chose to go more muted and minimal which is unusual for me:) Background is white gesso. I used bits from several napkins. the honeycomb was stamped using an old Stamper's Anonymous stamp, and the Botanical No. 003 is another oldie- from Post Modern Design.

Joining Paint Party Friday with this posting as well. I'll be around to visit and see what you've been up to too.
Please note: The last few weeks I have been unable to comment on any blogs that use Wordpress. As Jo suggested to me I tried opening those blogs in several other browsers to leave comments but to no avail:(:( My apologies that I cannot comment although I am enjoying your blogs. Any other suggestions on what I could do would be much appreciated!

 Have a great week!

  1. Happy T day Linda. You sounds like you had a super Mother's Day. I finally saw my daughter so I know the joy your felt. And I love the T day art this week. Nice coffee cups. And you art page for AJJ is really a beautiful way to showcase those flowers. Thanks for sharing them with us at AJJ. Have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

  2. What a fabulous card. I love that the sentiment was behind the "background."

So glad to read you had a proper Mother's Day with your son and soon-to-be bride and that you were able to visit your mother from afar. The new normal, I fear.

That's an absolutely LOVELY journal page. Very muted and not as colorful as your usual journal entries, but beautiful none-the-less. Thanks for sharing it using Mia's theme at Art Journal Journey.

LOVE the two cards about coffee. The postcard may be my favorite, but the card is lovely, too. Thanks so much for these absolute beauties you shared for T this almost Tuesday, dear Linda.

  3. I forgot to mention. When I tried to leave Karen at Creative Seconds, her Wordpress site wouldn't allow me to leave a comment UNLESS I joined Wordpress. As much as I didn't want to, I did it regardless. Now every Wordpress site I visit ignores my blogger blog and insists I'm on WP. Very frustrating. Hope you aren't lured into the same trap I was.

  4. You have some wonderful makes this week. I really love the kraft paper as the background for your journal page. It makes a great contrast against the gesso.
And that coffee mug is adorable. I don't drink coffee but I love the take out cups as they can be used for tea. :)
    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  7. You've made some lovely cards and artwork, sounds as if you had a good Mothers Day, it wasn't Mothers Day in the UK, it's in March but our son and family in San Francisco rang so I do get two, no cards though as we have only been collecting the mail every couple of weeks from our box in the PO. Our eldest GS rang me and said he was calling it Grandmothers Day too, hes such a caring boy.
    Have a Happy T Day

  10. No chance taking with visiting family here in NJ. It’s too soon. So glad others have felt safe to do it for Mother’s Day. Very pretty journal page! I want to try making a journal, don’t know where to start!

  11. Congrats on your win! I have a fb friend from Australia and we exchanged Christmas cards-it took about 6-7 weeks.
Beautiful art this week I love everything, especially the piece you made for Mia's theme flowers-that one is sooo nice I would frame it.
Happy Mother's Day we don't have children, and both of our grandparents and parents are now passed-I did get a special note from a young friend that messaged me-that I was in his thoughts as a special person in his life-so that really made me feel good
    Happy T hugs Kathy

  12. Sounds like you had a great Mother's Day. We've not celebrated it, as we get confused. Three kids are in the UK where it is called Mothering Sunday (it was the 22 March), Then I have one son in Italy (Second Sunday in May, like in the USA). My mum is Dutch and they also celebrate the second Sunday in May), but here in Spain it is the first Sunday of May. Confusing or what!
Lovely cards and artwork. I like the colour combination challenge: purple and green are not bad at all and your creations are beautiful.
    Happy T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca

  17. How nice that you could get togther with some of your family for Mother's Day. Our son lives in CA, so we talked by phone.

The "You Perk Me Up" postcard is really cool, Linda. It's very clever and I love the background. Lovely page for AJJ as well.

I'm having the same problem commenting. I think it's because I have several online I.D.s. So if I'm on a browser where I've signed into WordPress, WP demands that I use my WP identity to comment, but it won't accept my username and PW.

So for leaving comments, I use Mozilla Firefox where my Gmail account is open. Very frustrating. For two T-lady blogs, I have to try several browsers before I can lave a comment. I hope that helps.

Sounds similar to what Elizabeth experienced.

    Happy T-Day! Eileen xx

  32. Your mother's day card is simply gorgeous
For Mother's Day 2020 i held a Whats App party serving up ample dishes of YouTube music links, and photos of beer. My daughter dropped by she brought me icecream salted caramel a flavour i love. I gave her a dis of jollof rice. I got a video call from my granddaughter and her mother and her other grandmother, that was fun. Zuri danced the hula hoop during the video call😊

Happy PPF. Thanks for dropping by my blog today Linda

    Much🏞love
