Hi Peeps, I am so happy with the summer weather- and will definitely be celebrating the Summer Solstice on Saturday! Things are finally beginning to open up around here though we're not all the way there yet. But we are going to our first gathering- a graduation picnic, and we are also having our first record/vinyl party since February! Still being safe but also more relaxed.
The above junk journal page is meant for Art Journal Journey with the theme of " A Stitch in Time". Can you spot the stitching? Vintage image and label from my stash, washi tape, letter tiles are Tim Holtz, bees from a napkin.
Spending lots of time outside throughout the day and evening. It's just the best to get up in the morning and have my breakfast outside while the morning sun warms me and the birds entertain me:) So this is my entry for T Stands For Tuesday:
That is a new cake recipe I tried after seeing it in the newspaper and it is a keeper! Buttermilk cake with a medley of mixed berries-cherries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries. The best part is that it's made with frozen fruit and very convenient for me because where I mainly grocery shop they have small bags of these frozen mixed fruits. This cake is not real sweet so it would even be good as a dessert with some whipped cream or ice cream on the side:)
Remember waaaaay back when I mentioned I won some art prizes? Well, after two months in transit (!!) my Darkroom Door Challenge prize finally arrived from Australia:
I got to choose one stamp set and small stencil and these were my picks. Rachel, the owner also sent me those word chips. I can see using these stamps and stencil quite often;)
And now I'll share pretty much the only art I got to this past week outside of painting a few background pages in my journals- my index card art for a 61 day Instagram Challenge:
#9
#10
#11
#12
#13
#14
#15
I'm not going to give product lists and descriptions for each but if you have nay questions let me know in the comments or email me:) You don't have to be on Instagram to play in the challenge. Our Elizabeth of Altered Book Lover who hosts T Stands For Tuesday shares her index cards each Friday in a blog post;)
Joining Paint Party Friday later this week. Happy week everyone!

I want to begin by saying it took a minute to find the stitching on the Art Journal Journey entry, but once I enlarged it, I saw it around the label. Clever. It's a fun entry and the little girl is so sweet. Thanks for another wonderful entry using Halle's theme at Art Journal Journey.
ReplyDeleteI love your ICADs this week. They are so colorful and have such positive quotes and sentiments. Thanks for the shout out, too. BTW, Cindy will be posting hers on Sundays. I am not on Instagram so I'm loving that there are a few of these beauties I can see. Yours are wonderful this week.
I would love to join your for coffee in the morning on your patio. I love the china you used, too. And that cake sounds good. I've never used frozen berries before, but that sounds good and would save buying all those fresh berries that could go bad all at the same time. Thanks for sharing your cake and coffee with us, as well as your incredible art for T this Tuesday.
Glad you are enjoying good weather. Lots of lovely index cards and a great page for AJJ. Your new cake looks and sounds very good, enjoy. Happy T Day, Valerie
ReplyDeleteI like your banner very much -as the artwork otherwise, too.
ReplyDeleteI sadly tend to look back too often... and I have lost my fire, too. It´s again cold, grey, sad. Yoyur cards sure cheered me up, happy T-day!
It's a delight to discover your new blog post, Linda, though I suspect I've actually missed one or two - sorry. So glad you're enjoying what's left of Spring and the beginning of Summer. I always enjoyed waking up outside but that's not something I've done for quite some time, lol. It's never warm enough where I live and I haven't been abroad for a while. Always good to hear of people who take advantage of it, instead of taking it for granted.
ReplyDeleteGreat prize haul there - I love DD stamps, so that really is a blessing. You chose well ;-) Love your ICADs, too - I almost took part, then decided not to because it would've absorbed too much time - because of the way I work, not for any other reason. Ironically, I seem to have so much less time lately. I think it's all the queuing and the waiting for the buses, which aren't running as often as they were. It's hard not to slow down, too.
You'll enjoy your Vinyl night, I'm sure. It will be so good to be with friends after the isolation. Things are only just beginning to really ease here, so I got to see my granddaughter on Sunday and shopping is a little easier. I may even risk the shops later in the week, lol. Isn't it nuts?
Great journal page. Love the addition of the stitching, even if it's hard to spot. I still haven't tried that after all these years, but I'm intending to get my machine out this week, so who knows..
Have a great week and enjoy your new 'lease of life'!

Great artwork and quotes, I love the butterfly piece, it's lovely and beautiful colours too.
ReplyDeleteYour cake sounds good, it's hard to find buttermilk here and I keep seeing recipes that use it, I will have to have a look to see where I can buy it.
Your prize is great and I love the stencil with the circles, I've been trying to make something similar with my glue gun, unfortunately i only managed a tiny one, Ha,Ha
Have a Happy T Day

Hurrah for mail finally arriving. Looks like a good stash to win Linda. And your cake sounds delicious. I like cakes with fruit in them, especially at this time of year. I am glad for summer too. And you have some outstanding art today. Your AJJ page is fabulous. I wonder what that lady is smiling about? ANd I like the bees you added too. Glad you were able to join Halle's challenge. Hope you have a great T day. Hugs-Erika

We have a summer solstice tradition we won't be able to do this year, so I'm considering my options :) It's a day worth Celebrating :) What a lovely breakfast setting. Nice! Happy T Tuesday
ReplyDeleteA picnic - how fun. I hope ou al had a grand time. Sweet page for AJJ.

ReplyDeleteYour cake sounds delicious, and enjoyed seeing all of your icads
Glad you will be able to get out and about more. Missouri is officially open today-but it seems my bank is still not opening up the lobby anytime soon-which is a real hassle most times-long lines at the one drive up.
Enjoy summer coming up-happy T wishes Kathy
Such gorgeous art! I'm loving those colourful index cards, the designs remind me of summer - perfect 😁. That buttermilk cake looks so yummy too! Take care and Happy T Day wishes! Hugs, Jo x
ReplyDeleteYes I did spot the stitching on sweet, lovely. Have fun at the gathering.

Yes, I saw the stitching tool around the honey advert. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteOh I'm glad you are able to start socializing again. I remember you always enjoy your vinyl parties.
I love your cards with all those positive quotes and sayings.
Your breakfast cake looks really yummy. I use frozen mixed berries for certain muffins. It works really well as long as the liquid content is taken into account and the cake/muffin doesn't get too soggy.
That was a super prize you won there. Yes, all mail has been stagnated during the lockdown as very few planes were flying and not many countries were letting in foreign mail. And who knows... perhaps it was sent by surface mail, that would be cheaper for the people that sent it.
I'm sorry I'm so late in commenting. I never got round to it.
Sending you hugs,
and a belated Happy T-Day!
Lisca
Fab journal page and yes, I spotted the stitching, the loose threads lead me to the stitches. Lovely page with lovely colours and textures.
ReplyDeleteYou icads are lovely too, great colour combinations there.
Hugs, Neet xx
Hi Linda, you asked if I was on Instagram - I was but have not done anything for a while. However it has been on my mind to post again on there so I will be doing so shortly. There isn't much on at the moment, mainly mixed media, but I will try to put more on soon. I think I am known as "stamperneet" on there.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Neet xx
